just some random thoughts and experiences from the past weekend …

• on friday, i had time to spend with my family after work. i really enjoyed my time with all of them. i got mom set up on her own blog, which will be good for her. she has a lot of ideas about politics and such, so now she has a way to get her thoughts out and such. within the last year, she’s learned how to buy something from ebay and now has her own blog – mom’s getting tech-savvy
• i’m tired. a lot. i think it’s my job doing it to me… first off, i’m starting my day much earlier than what i’m used to and when i’m there, i am just absorb everything all at once. there’s so much to learn. granted, i’m excited about it and have enjoyed it so far… but it’s all a little intimidating. when i come home at the end of the day, i’m just wiped out. it caught up with me this weekend… i hope my body adjusts to its new demands soon.
• i went to my bank (one of the major names in the big bank world) this weekend to deposit a check. i was in line and looking at the walls – and i saw spanish EVERYWHERE. what really pissed me off was when i saw a poster that was only in spanish – i looked around for a duplicate one done in english, but no… just spanish. everything else on the wall was dual spanish/english… so why would that be any different? i don’t know why it got to me, but it just hit me wrong. yes, yes… i know all that “we don’t have a national language” crap – but when did my bank start printing things only in spanish? i was ticked. i won’t go on about the subject, though. it just got my attention.
• i saw an old friend this weekend – emrys. he and i hung out during our college career. he is in the air force and is stationed in japan, so it was definitely a treat to see him. he seems genuinely happy and likes where he is at. i am always so tickled to see friends find a great path. he’s a bright guy – he’ll go far, i’m sure.
• jeromy and i went to ikea – he scored a great chair and ottoman. he also found a heck of a couch for $100 on craig’s list. the thing looks brand new and is super comfy. he seems to have renewed interest in organizing his apartment and finally finishing the unpacking he started a couple of months ago. i’m looking forward to seeing the end result.
• i finished editing some bridals from last month and they turned out phenomenal. i can’t post them yet since the wedding isn’t until the end of the month, but after that, i’ll share. i’m shooting a wedding for another couple next weekend, which will be fun. jeromy will be coming along to shoot as well, so i’m excited about doing that as a couple. i know that he’ll get some great shots – i just hope he enjoys doing event photography.
• decorating one’s office can do wonders for your morale.  my huge, red-framed picture above my head and my cute organizational boxes from ikea make it look like someone actually resides in my area.
