During a debate held Monday at the New York Public Library with atheist author Christopher Hitchens, Al Sharpton assessed Mormon Mitt Romney’s presidential bid thusly: “As for the one Mormon running for office, those who really believe in God will defeat him anyways, so don’t worry about that; that’s a temporary situation.“
these words come from the same man who lead a media storm regarding don imus’ comments about the rutgers university women’s basketball team just a month ago. (while i don’t know if i agree about all the actions that were or weren’t taken in reference to that event, people can at least agree that what he said was inappropriate.)
at any rate, i wonder if the same vigor and commitment that was expended in getting don imus off the air will be likewise applied to mr. sharpton after this statement. . .
it’s funny how selective these issues are.
