so…
it’s been a long weekend in every sense of the word. it just seemed like nothing was easy or smooth. there was a lot to do, and even though it all got done (mostly), it left jeromy and i both exhausted. on saturday, our tasks were delayed or took longer for whatever reason. i had my annual dinner for work that night.. and we got ready and were on our way. while in the truck, we both realized we were going to be way late to the dinner and still had a lot to do that night. the truck was turned around, we finished laundry, and called it a night.
the next morning (today), we went to my boss’ house for brunch. we usually have a get-together the morning after the annual dinner since our group is all in town. this year was a little extra special since we threw a surprise baby shower for one of my coworkers. it was really fun and it turned out well. while we were there this morning, i learned that i had won an award at the annual dinner (which i was not there to receive). i felt horrible. the cool thing is that a nice bit of well-needed money (isn’t it always?) accompanied the award. i’m still shocked that i was nominated… but it would totally make sense that the one year i’ve ever missed the dinner would be the one year i won something. ugh.
i’m kinda feeling bleh tonight. itchy sore throat and stuff. i’m hoping i feel better in the morning since i’m going to austin for the week. jeromy wasn’t feeling too hot himself (he looked all red and clammy this evening) and he’s on a plane to las vegas right now.
i still haven’t packed and it’s 10 pm. heh. gotta run.
